Story: The Last-Minute Preparation | Anwar

Rohan was a diligent student, but as the day of his final exams approached, anxiety began to creep in. He had been attending a coaching center for the past six months and had worked hard. Still, he felt there was so much more to learn.

On a sunny Saturday morning, just a week before the exams, Rohan sat in the small classroom of the coaching center, surrounded by the buzz of his classmates. The teacher, Mr. Agarwal, was going over past exam questions, emphasizing the importance of understanding concepts rather than rote memorization.

“Remember,” Mr. Agarwal said with conviction, “the exam is not just a test of memory; it’s about how well you can apply what you’ve learned.”

Rohan nodded, but inside, he was still worried about his grasp of the subjects. With each passing day, his friends seemed more confident, while he felt like he was falling behind. As the clock ticked away, he made a decision: he would put in extra hours studying at the coaching center.

After class, Rohan stayed back while others left to enjoy their weekend. He opened his textbooks, flipping through the pages filled with notes and highlighted sections. As he studied, he found himself distracted by little things around him—the sound of students laughing in the hallway, the rustling of papers, and the faint music playing from someone’s phone.

Suddenly, Rohan’s friend, Aryan, walked in. “Hey, Rohan! Why aren’t you at the park with everyone else?” he asked, grabbing a seat next to him.

“I just want to study a bit more. I’m not feeling as prepared as I should be,” Rohan replied, a hint of worry in his voice.

Aryan smiled and leaned in. “You know, we can study together. Sometimes, explaining things to each other helps solidify concepts.” Rohan agreed, grateful for the company. They worked through their notes, quizzing each other on various topics, and soon found themselves deep in discussion.

As the days passed, Rohan and Aryan continued to meet at the coaching center every evening. Their study sessions turned into brainstorming workshops where they would tackle difficult problems and share different techniques for understanding complex topics. Rohan began to feel more confident.

The day of the exam finally arrived. Rohan woke up early, reviewed his notes one last time, and made sure to eat a hearty breakfast. He felt a mix of excitement and nerves as he made his way to the examination hall with Aryan.

Once inside the hall, Rohan took a deep breath and glanced at the questions on his exam paper. He remembered what Mr. Agarwal had said: apply what you’ve learned. With each question, he tapped into his study sessions and the knowledge he had built over time.

When he finally turned in his paper, Rohan felt a wave of relief wash over him. He had done his best. Later that week, when the results were announced, Rohan could hardly believe his eyes—he had achieved one of the top scores in his class!

Overjoyed, he rushed to share the news with Aryan and Mr. Agarwal. Their hard work had paid off, and more importantly, Rohan realized that collaborative studying had enhanced his understanding and reduced his anxiety.

That year, Rohan learned an invaluable lesson: success isn’t just about individual effort, but also about the support and synergy found in teamwork. With a newfound confidence, he looked forward to the challenges ahead, ready to embrace what lay in store for him in the future.
