Types Of English Sentences

What is the sentence? (वाक्य क्या है?)

The group of words that form a complete meaning is called a sentence.
=> (शब्दों का वह समूह जो पूर्ण अर्थ का निर्माण करता है, वाक्य कहलाता है।)

For example:

  • Suhel is going home.
  • Sita and Geeta are learning English from Swajms.
  • John lives in Texas.
  • Rita is living in Padrauna now.
  • We are going to the fair.
  • Neeraj is buying a shirt.
  • The dog is eating a piece of bread.

Types of English Sentences

There are four types of English Sentences.
(अंग्रेजी वाक्य चार प्रकार के होते हैं।)

  1. Declarative or Assertive Sentence (डिक्लेरटिव ऑ(र्‌) अˈसटिव़्‌ से᠎̮न्‌टन्‍स्‌) => (विधिसूचक वाक्य)
  2. Interrogative Sentence (इन्‌टˈरॉगटिव़्‌ से᠎̮न्‌टन्‍स्‌) => (प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य)
  3. Imperative Sentence (इम्‌ˈपे᠎̮रटिव़्‌ से᠎̮न्‌टन्‍स्‌) => (आदेशात्मक/आज्ञासूचक प्रार्थनात्मक वाक्य)
  4. Exclamatory Sentence (एक्स्क्लामट्री से᠎̮न्‌टन्‍स्‌) => (भावसूचक/ विस्मयसूचक वाक्य)

Declarative or Assertive Sentence

A declarative or assertive sentence is a sentence that is informative and ends with a period or a full stop.
=> (घोषणात्मक या विधिसूचक वाक्य एक ऐसा वाक्य है जो सूचनात्मक होता है और एक अवधि या पूर्ण विराम के साथ समाप्त होता है।)

Examples:

  • I like thriller movies.
  • There is a coffee house around the corner.

Interrogative Sentence

An interrogative sentence is one that is used to question something, and it ends with a question mark.
=> (प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य वह होता है जिसका प्रयोग किसी बात पर प्रश्न पूछने के लिए किया जाता है और यह प्रश्नवाचक चिन्ह के साथ समाप्त होता है।)

Examples:

  • What is the name of the movie you were watching?
  • Can you tell me the name of this village?
  • Where are you going?

Imperative Sentence

An imperative sentence is a sentence that expresses a command, an order, or a request.
=> (आदेशात्मक वाक्य वह वाक्य है जो किसी आज्ञा, आदेश या अनुरोध को व्यक्त करता है।)

Examples:

  • Please pick up the notes when you come.
  • Open the door.
  • Close the door.

Exclamatory Sentence

An exclamatory sentence is used to express sudden and strong emotions, and it ends with an exclamation mark. You can also use interjections to form exclamatory sentences.
=> (विस्मयादिबोधक वाक्य का उपयोग अचानक और तीव्र भावनाओं को व्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता है, और यह विस्मयादिबोधक चिह्न के साथ समाप्त होता है। आप विस्मयादिबोधक वाक्य बनाने के लिए प्रक्षेप का भी उपयोग कर सकते हैं।)

Examples:

  • Wow, how good this is!
  • That was a great match!
  • You did a really good job!
  • You were amazing!
