What are interjections?

An interjection, also known as an exclamation, is a word, phrase, or sound
used to convey an emotion such as surprise, excitement, happiness, or anger.

An interjection is a word that expresses a sudden, strong feeling such as surprise, pain, or pleasure.

Example sentences:

  • Ah, that feels good.
  • Ah, now I understand.
  • Ah well, it can’t be helped.
  • Alas, she’s dead now.
  • Oh dear! Does it hurt?
